BR 2-04: Horses and Ponies

This book is written by Anna Milbourne.

This is written about a horse and ponies.
First, there is written about wild horses. In the wild, they live in groups called herds because it feels safer than living on their own. Do you know ponies? Ponies are small horses. They are so cute. There is some kind of horses.

Horses have hair all over their bodies. It called a coat. Horses' coats often change as they grown up. Some animals' coats also change as they grown up. Horses are very good at running. They can run fast. When horses run fast, it's called galloping. When they run slowly, it's called cantering. When they jog, it's called trotting. When they walk, it's just called walking. Did you know theses word? I knew them for the first time.

Have you ever seen a horse's baby? A few horse a foal is born, it can run fast enough to keep up with a herd. Male foals are called colts and female foals are called fillies. Horses can talk! As well as using silent signals, horses neigh, snort and squeal.

Wild horses don't like being touched by people. They have to learn to trust them first, but pet horses trust people and like being stroked. When I was a child, I often rode horses because I like it. Most horses and ponies are at least three years old before people ride them.

If you want to ride horses, you should go to Aso. Maybe there is a place that you can ride horses.
