BR 2-03: Volcanoes

This is written by Stephanie Turnbull.

Do you know Volcanoes? There are thousands of volcanoes around the world. Some spray red-hot melted rock called lava. Some lava is runny. Runny is like thin honey or hot wax. It gushes sown the sides of the volcanoes. Some volcanoes have thick lava that is full of gas bubbles. The gas makes lava burst out in a violent eruption.

Lava that flows from an erupting volcano is much hotter than boiling water. Thick lava breaks into rough chunks as it cools down. Runny lava sets into smooth, swirly shapes instead.

There is a volcanoe in Kumamoto and Kagoshima. The volcano in Kagoshima is called Sakurazima. It is very famous. It was often erupting. Volcanoes are dangerous. Moreover, it does great damage to many people.
