BR 2-13: The Magic Pear Tree

This book was written by Rosie Dickins. This story is about selfish Shen, a hungry beggar, a kind woman, some yummy pears and a little bit of magic.

Shen lived in a little house with a big garden. there was a tree in garden. It is golden pears. There were too many pears for him. But he didn't want to share them. He took a box of pears to the market. The beggar said I want. But he didn't have money. Shen, shouted to him. A kind woman heard his shouting. She asked, "Can't you give away one pear?" Shen shouted to her again. She bought pear for the beggar. The beggar thanks to her. He ate the pear quickly. He spat out the seed. The beggar dug a hole and dropped in the seeds. And a tea seller gave him a teapot. He poured hot tea into the hole. Then, the crowd gasped. The shoot grew and grew. It was golden pears tree. The beggar gave a pear for a kind woman.

Suddenly, Shen looked around. All his pears had gone! It was a trick. But the crowd just laughed.
