BR 2-07: Snails

This book was written by Susanna Davidson.

This book is written about snails. Do you like snails? Have you ever touched snails?
Snails are hiding flower pots and under rocks. The snails wait until it is dark. Snails have soft bodies and hard shells. Slime ooze out from under a snail's body. Snails can slide over the ground, up branches and even upside down. They have rough tongues.  They rub their tongues over leaves to eat them.

They can also smell with their feelers. Their eyes are on the ends of the longer feelers. If the bird come to fly, the snails hide in their shells. The bird can't get them.

Some kinds of snails live in ponds and the sea. Some snails are huge. They can grow longer than my arm.

Snails lay lots of eggs in the ground. Pond snails lay sticky eggs on plants. Their eggs are inside blobs of jelly. This keeps them safe. After a few weeks, the baby snails hatch out. The snails bodies grow so do their shells.
