I write about having learned in fall semester. In the first class, I learned about Britain. I remember that I having memorized the real name of Britain. I took time to memorize it. But, I could finally memorize it. I was very glad.
In the second class, I drew the British map. And I wrote metropolis in the map. (London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast) I got to know cities other than London for the first time. And, I learned that many people in Wales still speak the ancient Welsh language. (In fact, about half a million people.) The teacher said, “When I was crossing into Wales, many of the signs were written in both English and Welsh.”
In the third class, I learned about the national flag and national anthem in England. The British national flag is called the Union Jack. (Flag) I like the design of the Union Jack very much. And, there is the British national anthem to No.6, and it is very long. However, words were so beautiful.
In the fourth class, I learned about the history and culture of England. Most people have heard of William the Conqueror and the invasion of England by the Normans from France. But, I was surprised that Henry Ⅷ and the fact that he had six wives. This was the most impressive in this class.
In the fifth class, I learned about Scotland. I knew for the first time that Celts is not native people. And a Hadrian’s wall is a stone wall with forts every mile as a defence. The Picts which meant “painted men” because they painted their bodies. The Restoration of the monarchy in England and the accession of William and Mary gave Scotland political again.
And I learned about state school. But, it is difficult for me. The state system of Education in Britain is loosely organized. The education of Britain was different from Japan.
I remember about Robert Buns. In 1759, Robert Burns was born in Scots land. His father was earnest about education. So, His father was made to learn about reading and writing. And, Robert was working with his brothers as he composes a poem. In 1786, His collection of poems has been printed. In 1788, he married Jean Armor. And he had 9 children. In 1796, he passed away aged 37. Auld Lang Syne was written by Robert Burns. The words of this song mean that he meet old friend and drink together.
I also learned about the Beale’s song. Beatles is very famous all over the world. I’m surprised at that 27 million viewers watched their Palladium Show on TV in1963. I listened to YESTERDAY for the first time, when I was a high school. I remember that my English teacher sung this song. I think this song is really a bitter-sweet ballad. I like this song’s words. And, I thought “Yesterday” means I want to go back yesterday. The class of this day was so fun.
